Fire Station Construction Grant Check Presented by Congressman Mike McIntyre

Members of the Department were presented with a symbolic check in the amount of $1,609,950.00 by Congressman Mike McIntyre for the construction of the Brown/Moore Memorial Facility.  Construction of the facility will start immediately, once FEMA gives the go ahead.  The Department is currently waiting for FEMA to release instructions on completing a mandated environmental assessment and historical preservation review. 

The Brown/Moore Memorial Facility will be an 11400 sq ft fire station.  The new facility will have a 5500 sq ft double drive through apparatus bay capable of housing eight full sized pumpers, sprinklers, vehicle exhaust removal system, fire alarm system, public lobby, kitchen, two laundry rooms, decon room, conference room, training room,  gym, day room, server room, storage rooms, utlity room/workshop, radio room, three offices, three dorms, learing lab/library, and four bathrooms.  

The Department is hoping to occupy the new building by the fall or winter of 2010. The Department has selected Bobbitt Design Build out of Raleigh for the Design Build Construction of this facility.
