Station #1 replaced a 3600 sq ft facility that could no longer serve the needs of the department.  Planning for Station # 1 started in 2005, but funding was not obtained until 2009. The planning involved researching over 50 fire station building designs in North & South Carolinas.  Features were taken from some of the 50 stations and incorporated into the design of Station # 1, along with a few new ideas from the Navassa VFD.  Station # 1 is a dream station for the Department and meets all current and some future needs.
